About Nancy Chenet
I was born and raised in Ohio and have always been coloring, sketching or painting since I was in grade school.
In high school many friends and family members commissioned me to draw portraits and I did sketching at our fairs and community events, as well.
I entered the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio after HS, and was in the first accredited graduating class, receiving my BFA degree, majoring in Advertising and Illustration.
From Columbus, I migrated to Orlando to learn a new trade with a stained glass company from Canton that was contracted to do a few windows at Disney World (Cinderella's castle and Haunted House) and several churches. Better suited for drawing, I moved on to doing Fashion layout for a dept. store and some ad agency and newspaper layout work.
The thrill of creating page layout on a computer was an exciting new career and I started a graphics design business in the 80's, creating logos, stationery, menus, etc. for my clients, including law firms, car dealerships, and United Arts, to name a few.
Over the years, I have always taken photos and since raising my family, have done more and more along that line and also experimenting with digitizing the photos. Since I have retired now, it was time to take my art a step further and get back into drawing and acrylic painting, which
I am enjoying immensely. I have previously exhibited my work at Gallery on First in Sanford, the Sanford Welcome Center, several outdoor art shows;
including Lake Mary/Heathrow, Halifax, Pt. Orange, DeLand, Maitland Rotary, and the St. John's Art Festival.
I've always enjoyed figure drawing and the shapes of the human form, as well as landscapes and flowers. Nature holds so much beauty; one can never run out of subject matter.
